Manifesto
The OldWeb
I thought the point of the “bring back the oldweb” movement was to express yourself in a corporate wasteland.
On Geocities archives, there were personal sites, religious sites, dumb ideology sites, whatever you could
think
of,
honestly.
they were interesting because the people were interesting. now everything looks the same, websites are all
made
for
the same reasons, with the same topics. Everyone feels like the same type of person.
i’ve seen people ‘suggest’ you delete what makes your site unique. if they hate your politics, or just what
they
assume are your politics, they’ll mass report you offsite.
back then etiquette was different. you’d get insults, hate, whatever, but it seemed that the sites got to
stay
up.
what’s the point of calling it a movement if we mass report anything that criticizes us? Or that we
personally
don’t
like? either every site has the right to exist within reason, or none do.
